They grow in USDA zone 10, but you can bring them indoors as bulbs during the wintertime in most of the southern US with a good degree of success. They are a very common ornamental used near the sides of building a lot like the one pictured above because they grow well in shady spots. Being native to the humid tropical jungles of Southeast Asia, they LOVE the growing conditions in places like Florida or southern Georgia.
